May 23

Today was a mild and sunny day, but we left the hotel at 10:00am for the airport.  Icelandair’s Flybus system is very efficient.  We booked our round trip tickets online in advance and there is a bus between the airport and Reykjavik bus terminal every hour.  Mini buses take you between the bus terminal and hotels.  The airport is a 45 minute drive from town so the bus is far more economical than a taxi.  The flight was smooth and on time and an excellent fillet of lamb was served for lunch.  We arrived in Copenhagen at 6:15pm and were met by our friend Dr. Claus Lie and we drove to Slagelse which is 100km south west of Copenhagen where we went to a familiar restaurant for dinner where Claus’ 17 year old daughter Julie joined us.  Denmark has finally entered summer and the temperature has been in the mid to upper 70s.  After an enjoyable meal and conversation we walked Julie to her mother’s house and then drove to Claus’ seaside house where we’ll stay for the next few days.
